The tree we took down this past weekend in our yard. It was leaning quite a bit over our house and had already lost a large branch this summer after a windstorm. The branch fell right after the girls came in the house.
Ben used his old rock climbing harness and roped himself to the tree, using another rope to secure each branch to the above one, before sawing it off, to prevent the branches from swinging into our patio doors. It worked! There were about three large branches and a big plume of smaller ones.
This was the last one down, it gave Ben a ride as it shook the trunk from the force of the fall! We have not yet taken down the rest of the trunk, we may leave it for a rope swing for a while.
